LoZ: Dark Times

Name: Dark Times

Plot: The Kingdom of Hyrule was a peaceful place ruled by the kind King Daphnes III, with his daughter, Princess Zelda, at his side. However, near the Princess' 18th birthday, a dark force invaded the kingdom- and, hoping to take the chaos of the invasion as an opportunity and distraction, Daphnes' jealous older brother, Arthur II, seized his change- and murdered his brother in cold blood, wanting to take the throne for himself. He placed the blame on the invaders, and the king's death was mourned. However, soon after, Zelda was named Queen in his absence- and Arthur knew, in order to truly be King, he would have to kill Zelda next, as well.

However, before such a plan could come to fruition, a young hero by the name of Link was able to conquer the darkness and rid the land of its foes. Not long after, to Arthur's dismay, Zelda and Link became engaged. Link would soon become the next King of Hyrule. Arthur knew he could not wait any longer- and enacted his plan to murder the Princess of Hyrule. Unfortunately, his plan went horribly awry- and he could not get Zelda alone. Instead, her hero Link charged in to save her- and ultimately paid the price. By mistake, Arthur had murdered Link instead of Zelda.

This time, Arthur was not so lucky with getting away with his crime. He was found- but not caught. He had already learned all he needed to know- and so fled the kingdom of Hyrule, taking with him some knights and soldiers loyal to him. The Kingdom began to fall to shambles- a murderer had already taken out their beloved King, now their hero, and everyone knew the Princess was next. Zelda was desperately trying her best to keep things in order, but Arthur knew- now was his chance.

Now was his chance to assemble his army- and lead a full-on assault against the castle itself, and take it by force.

The Kingdom is in dire need of those to step up to the plate and join the fight against the mad dark sorcerer Arthur. But with the might of the Dark World's Magic at his side, who knows what sort of villains might be joining instep with his malicious plans...

Races: Hylian, Sheikah, Gerudo, any dark monsters, etc (Basically, any humanoid race that typically appears in the Zelda games is fine. No Zoras, Gorons, etc.)

Games it ties into (if any): This is a generic Zelda game, minus Link. That means everyone is the hero! (Or would you rather join Arthur in his mad quest for the throne?)

Timeline: Derp

Rules: Link is dead for a reason- everyone and anyone can be part of the "hero" in this rp. ^_^ There is no one single hero or protagonist- all of the good guys who band together against Arthur are the protagonists! However, there aren't any other "major villains" allowed- Arthur is the big bad guy, the final boss. However, any other bad dudes are more than welcome to throw their lot in with Arthur for a bit of evil fun! ;D Anyways, just hop right in. ^_^ No character limit, but keep it reasonable, 'k?

The mad sorcerer sat in the darkness of the caves, the furthest one in and the darkest, coldest one they could find. The only light came from a burning red orb, sitting atop a twisted, blackened metal staff which he grasped in his hand.

He was muttering something indiscernible to the normal Hylian ears- his words demonic and low, deep and sinister. A certain hollowness came in his words, and as they were spoken, wisps of magic began to swirl around his orb.

Finally, the magic burst outwards in a brilliant flash of blood-red light. Soon after, it faded, dying down- but before the cave sank into complete pitch-black, the dying red hues of the magic lit up against the dark, twisted face of the gleeful, terrifying necromancer.

"King Arthur," he snarled to himself as the light finally died out, "Soon... very... soon."

Deserax was passing through the town, which because of the recent deaths, and other events, wasn't quite in tip top condition. People where... Irritable now. He saw fights happen a lot more, and occasionally he would have to be the one to stop them. Normally, a fireball to the feet will take care of them, but a few times he's had to knock out to keep the peace.

While he was walking though the town, he noticed a guy get thrown into a near by vending stand, and some fruit flew everywhere. Deserax reached up his hand and caught a mango and took a bite out of it.

"Now now, is there really need for that?" He asked. His response was the man who threw the other coming at him with a punch. Deserax was still casually eating the fruit, and sidestepped the punch. He then shot his knee up at the mans gut, then quickly round house kicked him to the ground, knocking him out. Before anything could be said, he just walked away, eating the mango.

"How's the good samaritan act going?" Konbei laughed when he saw Deserax deal with the man.

Deserax picked up a near by apple and threw it at Konbei, offering it to him in a way.

"Tiring after a while. Some times i just want to see them duke it out on there own."

Konbei caught the apple but dropped it to the side. "I don't know why you bother," he said. "If they don't kill each other first, Zelda's uncle will."

A sudden weight was felt on Konbei's back, and his eyes were covered, a small, female voice could be heard "Guess who?"

Konbei instantly grinned when a pair of tiny hands clasped over his eyes. "Who?" He asked and pretened like he didn't know.

The weight could be felt climbing up high on Konbei's back, the hands were lifted and a young girl with white blonde hair and green tips. "It's me!" the young Niamh said as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Come here," Konbei said. He lifted Niamh over his head and held her in front. "Where's your mum?"

(By the way, for reference, Gwene is 22 in this RP.)

"She is up at the castle with Auntie Zelda." Nimah answered.

(Oh yeah so is Konbei :3)

Konbei set Niamh on the ground and looked at her with a slight frown. "Did you come down here by yourself?"

"Yeah." Niamh said. "Mama was taking a while with Auntie Zelda, so she said I should come find you."

"You shouldn't walking around by yourself, Niamh," Konbei said. "People will hurt you."

"Sorry." Niamh said, trying to hide her face. "I was only bored and wanted to find you was all."

"I know," Konbei sighed. "I was just worried about you."

"Sir!"

Snarling, angry at the disturbance to his practices, Arthur whirled around, his burning eyes and contorted face lit up in the dark red hues of the magic glowing all around him. A terrified, yet bold-faced soldier stood at the entrance to his cave, at attention.

"This had better be good," Arthur snarled, clenching his fists.

The soldier saluted. "Sir!" he barked, "Our scouts have detected that the castle's soldiers have retreated from their hold on Kakariko Village."

Arthur raised an eyebrow. Why would the castle leave one of the prime cities undefended? Still, a sinister smirk began to grew across his face. No doubt the kingdom was slowly crumbling without his steady and sure hand... That pitiful excuse for a "Queen", his damnable niece, couldn't keep the kingdom together. And no soldier would follow HER.

Tightening his fists, Arthur stood up as he turned to face the soldier.

"Ready your swords," he snarled with a grin. "We leave at sundown."

The Scout looked down across Kakriko village, panting.

Someone had been following him. He had ran, and from the shadows, someone had followed. He had been so quiet, like he was being stalked by a ghost.

Now, he was standing on the side of one of the cliffs which over looked Kakriko, and he was looking down for the man. He had to be somewhere...

And then, a hand reached up from the cliff face, grabbed him by his belt buckle, and pulled him off. The scout was so surprised he barely had time to scream before he hit the ground with a sickening crack.

The Assassin pulled himself up onto the cliff, and looked down. The scout was lying dead at the bottom. It was a particularly high drop; the man was unfortunate enough to land on his head, however. Soon, the other target from his contrack would come to investigate. He just had to wait...

Deserax was watching the two having fun, and thought of an idea.

"Hey, I'm free for a while, so you guys wanna go to Kakariko, or something? Maybe relax in the hotspring, or just visit there in general?"

Konbei shrugged and nodded. "I've got nothing better to do..." he said.

When the second scout arrived at Kakariko, already he could sense something wrong... The scout he was coming to relieve was not at his post. Instantly, the dark magician turned and, digging his heels into his horse, quickly ran back away. The invasion was to be tonight, and there could be no mistakes... He had to hurry back to his commander as soon as possible. After all, already his forces were beginning to assemble... The town had no idea of its impending doom.

Zelda was sitting in the drawing room, sipping delicately on her tea as she waited for Gwene to arrive. She was a rather picturesque sight - her blonde locks were braided simply, and she was wearing a newly tailored gown. Her expression was serenely contemplative, but the hand on her teacup twitched in nervous habit.

"I did think she was due by now, Thorne - perhaps something held her up?"

The man sitting in an adjacent seat, one dressed elegantly, with silver hair and red eyes, looked up at the princess, setting his own teacup on the plate.

"I am sure that she will be here in but a few moments, Your Highness."    

There was a knocking at the door to the chamber Zelda waited in.

Niamh nodded "Okay, that sounds fun."

"How about I show you some more tricks with your ice, once we get there," Konbei said to Niamh as he took her hand and started walking.

"Really?!?" Niamh asked, unable to hold her excitement. "Thanks Papa." she took his hand and walked beside him, looking up at her father with a bright smile.

As the sun began to set, the scout finally arrived at the edges of the caves, where the army was already assembled, forming into teams and becoming prepared. The scout ran towards his commander, telling him what had happened. The commander then turned and spoke quietly to the large man at the front of the group wearing massive, dark robes and sitting atop a mountain of a horse.

Arthur snarled, tighter gripping the reins of his horse. "The military will not interfere," he growled. "We will kill the straggling resisters one by one if we must. We continue without deviation from the plans! The assault on Kakariko begins at sundown. Prepare your men for departure."

The general nodded and left, leaving the dark sorcerer to narrow his eyes, setting them fiercely across the horizon, at the beginning of his conquest.
