Dearly Departed

"Really?" Gwene asked excited, turning to face him. "Would you really want to live with me?"

"Better than living with my Mother," Konbei said. "As long as you don't mind putting up with me more than you already do."

She wrapped her arms around him "I can't get enough of you, living together will be like a dream come true."

"Yeah, it'll be fun," Konbei said and gave her a smile.

She enjoyed looking at these smiles of his, she placed a kiss upon it "Speaking of your mother, how has she and Celeste been? and how did they react to my missing?"

"They've been alright, Celeste was pretty shattered when the search was called off," Konbei said. "Mum wasn't too impressed either."

"Wow." Gwene said, feeling missed "I thought you mother would have been glad to see me gone."

"What? No," Konbei said, chuckling a little. "She says you're good for me."

Gwene raised an eyebrow with a smirk "Oh really? Well, if anything you're good for me to. No other man has ever made me feel the same way I feel about you."

Dane walked into Donphes' office and was greeted by the General's wide-eyed stare, his jaw practically touching the desk.

"By the Gods...it's Attics' nephew!"

"Hello General." Dane nodded. The man looked older than he remembered; his hair had gotten greyer and his voice gruffer, but there was an overall sense of exhaustion that radiated from him. Dane didn't remember that being there.

"Have you seen my uncle?" the gentry asked.

Donphes sighed and shook his head. "My boy, Attics left the military five years ago to look for you. No one has heard from him since. As much as I hate to say it, he is probably dead."

"Well of course they haven't," Konbei said proudly.

Gwene couldn't help but laugh and kissed him on the lips "You always know how to flatter me."

"Yeah I do," he smirked and gave her kiss back.

Gwene smiled she leant back and lay in his arms. "If I hadn't come back, would you have moved on?"

Konbei paused for a moment. "Does it matter, now?"

Gwene looked at him seriously "I know it isn't something nice to talk about, but if something should happen to me again, I want you to move on. Your happiness if my happiness." she smoothed her hand over his face "Right now, you are the most important person in my life and I want what's best for you." she gave him another kiss on the lips.

As much as Konbei didn't want to say it, he said, "same goes for you."

"To be honest, if something happened to you, I don't think I could." Gwene admitted "Even if I did find someone, I couldn't love them, I'd feel as if I was betraying you."

"I'm not gonna die anyway," Konbei said. "So you won't have to worry about that."

"Good." she kissed him again "I don't intend to either."

"Better not," Konbei said.

"I wont." Gwene looked over at her clothes, looking for her weapons. "Oh no! My weapons, where are they?!?"

She seemed quite frantic and went over to her clothes.

Konbei followed her. "Calm down, Gwene, they're at my place," he said as he dressed himself. "You left them at the lake the day you disappeared."

Gwene breathed a huge sigh of relief. "Thank goodness." she looked at him "Listen, could you do me a favour? Could you get them for me? And bring a blanket or something, I feel like staying the night here."

"Sure, won't be long," Konbei said and disappeared, leaving a patch of snow falling in his wake.

He returned with a Gwene's weapons and a blanket like she asked. He dumped the blanket on the ground and handed her the swords. "I made sure I kept them in good condition."
