Dearly Departed

"You know how to flatter me." Gwene said, her checks a little rosey. She gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Now it looks like we are going to have to build an extra room in that home of ours."

"Hm, yeah," Konbei said, smiling a little. "Got any theories about how the hell all this makes sense?"

"Call me strange, but my heart instantly connects to her." Gwene said "And it has t been wrong yet, I mean, it told me about you and now look at us." she paused "Her age fits, and she looks exactly like me, and her eyes, they are your eyes."

Konbei nodded, looking Niamh over again. "I guess we sort of know what happened to you now, well, whatever she means by 'sleeping'..."

"But why was I taken." Gwene said "I guess we will never know. But it's a thing of the past and I can look forward to our future together."

"Mm, I'd still like to find out if I could," Konbei said. "You know, closure."

Gwene nodded "Okay. But for today, let's just get to know her and have some fun."

(Time skip of three days later.)

Gwene opened her eyes and turned onto her side and looked at Konbei sleeping opposite her, and Niamh sleeping between them, Zelda had kept Gwene's old room in the hope that she would return. The past three days Gwene came to accept that Niamh was her and Konbei's daughter. She was exactly like them in every way, she smoothed the hair from Niamh's face and kissed her on the forehead.

She quietly slipped out of bed and went out onto the small balcony enjoying as the sun rose over Death Mountain, she held her arms and though to herself. 'Today is the day we tell Nuala' she was incredibly nervous and scared what Nuala might say or do. She knew she wouldn't do anything rash, would she?

Konbei stirred and woke up. He felt a small weight pressed against him and looked down to see Niamh still fast alseep. He watched her sleeping and wondered what she was dreaming about, she looked so content.

Gwene just continued to watch the sunrise, her dressing gown flowing in the slight breeze.

Konbei carefully shifted Niamh over, trying not wake her up, and got up to go out to Gwene.

She heard him approach and turned to face him, she gave him a smile and spoke softly "Hey." she turned and looked back out at the sunset.

"Nervous about today?" Konbei yawned.

Gwene swallowed and nodded.

"Me too," Konbei said, leaning on the railing and folding his arms. "But I mean, there's nothing she can do about it anyway."

Gwene went behind Konbei and wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his shoulder "I know, but she could choose to not be apart of Niamh's life, and I want her to be, she is her only grandmother after all." she swallowed thinking about her own parents. She wished they could be here to see Niamh.

"She will be, she'll love Niamh," Konbei said, to reassure both himself and Gwene.

"You think so?" Gwene said, her voice getting hopefull. "She did a great job with you, imagine what she could bring Niamh up to be like."

"Yeah," Konbei said. He looked back at Niamh. "I can't wait to give her a sword."

Gwene smiled at this "I.... I also have another surprise for you, well, for you to give to her."

"Hm?" Konbei said, looking at her.

As if on cue, there was a knock on the door, Gwene went over to answer it, in a few moments she returned holding a long wooden case, she opened it for him to reveal Konbei's blade from when he was younger. "Remember the sword I gave to you? I handed over your old katana to the master blacksmith with the strictest instruction to keep it the way it was, but repair it a little." she lay the case on the balcony and took the katana from its sheathe, its blade was recast and it looked as good as new. She looked it over and saw a few ancient Hylian symbols crafted into the blade near the hilt. "Perfect." she handed it to Konbei. "Do you like it?"

"This is really great, Gwene," Konbei said, taking the sword. "What do the symbols mean?

"It's her name, in ancient Hylian again." Gwene said "How does it feel? Is it a good weight and size for her?"
