Dearly Departed

Dane paced back and forth, losing his patience with Gwene and Konbei.

"What's taking them so long?"

(Fogot about Dane...)

"Wait a sec, maybe we should go tell Dane about what we know..." Konbei said. "Maybe he knows something we don't."

The desert was quiet. A gentle breeze that was unlike the usually harsh ones blew over the dunes, and small particles of sand were thrown into the air, sparkling in the red sunlight as they descended to the ground.

Fortuna sighed, feeling the dusky rays sear her face. She hadn't a clue about what had happened to her, nor could she remember how she had gotten this far away from the village. Every time she tried to grasp a memory... emptiness. The young Gerudo girl scaled another dune, and shielded her eyes from the sun as she surveyed the terrain ahead from her perch.

There's the village. I wasn't as far away as I'd thought.

Fortuna slid down the slope of the dune, new vigor in her limbs. She was finally home! She raced towards the sandstone walls, unsure why she was so excited. Hadn't she been gone only for a few hours?

Gwene nodded and dropped her blade back into her pouch "Good point." she whistles loudly and yelled to Dane "Dane! We are out the back!"

"I'll take a raincheck though, alright," Konbei said, not wanting to forget the spar completely.

Gwene smiled and folded her arms "I would have won though."

"But you told Niamh I was the best," Konbei said.

Dane's ears twitched at the sound of his names. Nuala's house must have been right under his nose. After cutting through a bit more thicket he hooked around the house and found the three outside.

"So is everything taken care of with Nuala?" he asked, brushing some twigs off his shoulder.

"Sometimes even the best can lose once or twice." she said with a grin.

"No, I don't..." Konbei said. He saw Dane approaching and nodded. "Yeah, it's all good," he said. "Hey have you heard of a race with like tattoos on their faces?"

"Not in Hyrule, no."

"It's weird though." Gwene said "They must have been in Hyrule, they taught my daughter how to speak Hylian and Ancient Hylian, and they spoke it fluently also."

"Then I honestly have never heard of them." Dane shrugged. He looked at the house, "Nuala is still inside, right?"

Gwene nodded.

"Thanks." Dane said as he went to speak with the woman inside.

Nuala looked up from what she was doing when she saw Dane. "Can I help you?" She said indifferently.

"I'm looking for my uncle. He's been looking for me ever since I was abducted five years ago. I was wondering if he came through the woods while searching for me."

Nuala looked at him again. "Hm, what's his name?" She said. "A lot of people pass through here, I don't have the time nor care to remember them all."

"Attics." Dane replied, a little irked that she even had to ask. "I believe you two know eachother."

(I don't remember Nuala and Attics ever meeting? Though I'm probably wrong...)

(At the start of Daimus, remember?)

(And Beasts of Blood, and Children of Time, and the Hyrule World Tournament. I think it's safe to assume they know eachother, at least as aquaintances.)

"Oh that's right, Attics is your uncle, isn't he..." Nuala said. "To answer your question, yes he did stop shortly before the search was called off. I haven't seen him since," she finished with a shrug.

"Hey Niamh. We have a special place to show you." Gwene said with a bright smile, she knelt down so she could talk to her daughter.

"Really?!? Where?" Niamh said in surprise, unable to contain her joy.

Gwene looked at Konbei "Can you take us to the oasis?"

"Yep," Konbei said. He held his hand out to Niamh and put his other arm around Gwene's waist and took them to the oasis.
