Dance of Dragons

"I'm going to fail?" Gwene asked surprise. "Alright then, I was going to take it easy on you, but now you're going down."

Konbei just laughed and shook his head. She was dreaming.

Gwene was down to her final slice of pizza, she was full, but she learnt never to leave food on the table "So, how are Nuala and Celeste?" she picked it up and began to eat it.

Konbei shrugged. He didn't spend a lot of time at home; not because he didn't like it, but because he would rather be out doing what he wanted instead. Sometimes the most time he spent there was when he was running the shop for extra cash.

"Same as usual," he said.

"Well, you should call Nuala and tell her you're moving in with me." Gwene said.

"I'll tell her when I go to get my stuff," Konbei said.

Gwene nodded, she finished her final slice and sat back on the couch. "Wow, that was absolutely delicious. How do you like my cooking?"

"You're amazing..." Konbei said and took their empty boxes to the bin.

"I aim to please." Gwene said, she took a big drink from her bottle of coke.

"You're doing a pretty good job of it, so far," Konbei said, walking back over to her and giving her a kiss.

Gwene snuggled up to Konbei and gave him a kiss also. "So, what do you want to do now?"

Konbei shrugged and wrapped his arm comfortably around Gwene.

Gwene too, lay a comfortable arm around his waist, she lay on him resting her head on his chest and watching the TV.

Konbei flicked through the channels again to see if there was anything else on, but it was mostly just debate coverage.

"I'll be back," he gave Gwene a quick kiss and went out to the balcony and lit a cigarette.

Gwene sat up and watched him go outside, she got up and went to him "Um, Konbei. Should have told you, this complex is smoke-free."

"Fuck that," Konbei said, sounding a little pissed off.

"I don't mind that you smoke, just not here." Gwene said "Look, the cafe across the street allows smoking outside, so if you go buy a coffee or something, you can smoke there."

"Great..." Konbei sighed. As much as he thought it was a ridiculous rule, he didn't want to get Gwene into trouble so he stood up and went to leave. "I don't even drink coffee," he said as he walked out of the door.

"They have very nice orange juice." Gwene suggested.

Konbei paced back and forth outside the the front of the cafe and dumped the coffee he'd bought in the bin. It was going to be a pain in the arse having to do this however many times a day but he figured he didn't really have a choice. If Gwene had been anyone else, he probably would have told them to 'fuck off' and just kept doing what he wanted, but he wanted to make her happy so she was the only one he willingly listened to.

Not too far down the street, a sign caught Konbei's eye; the local Soup Kitchen. Through the window, he saw someone he thought he recognised talking to the red-hedded girl.

That mute kid... He thought when it came to him.

A text came to Konbei's phone, it was from Gwene and it read When you are done, I've got a little surprise waiting for you.

Konbei watched the two in the Soup Kitchen a little more. He didn't know what the mute boy's name was, but he saw him around the place all the time. Even for a homeless kid who couldn't speak he seemed a little different.

His phone vibrated and he smiled when he read Gwene's text. He finished up and headed back up to her.

Gwene had been relaxing the entire time, waiting for Konbei.

"What's this surprise you've got for me?" Konbei said as he shut the door behind him.

Gwene didn't answer, she was lying on the bed fast asleep, her jeans were lying on the floor. It seemed Gwene was ready to 'celebrate' but due to her being over tired had fallen asleep.
