Shadow Of The End

Rusl looked up at them. He had the eyes of someone who had been happy once, but with shock in them like he'd been slapped in the face.

"Yes, I am." he said grimly. "...your here to help with the Militia?"

Lyn could see the hurt in his eyes- and she wondered if he could see the hurt in hers, too, hidden behind bitterness and anger.

"I'll be frank with you here," she said firmly with a frown. "I don't intend on joining an 'army'. But I do intend on helping. If you want to send a small squad out to go search, or infiltrate the ranks of the kidnappers, I'm your assassin."

"...what she said." the young man said flatly. "I go where she goes."

Rusl stared hard at her, and frowned, before looking off into the distance.

"...infiltration, you say?" he said.

Lyn was slightly surprised by the young man's statement to go with her, but she had no objections to it and quickly shrugged it off.

"Whatever you need us for," she said firmly, "to get everyone back safely."

Rusl eyed them up agian, and then looked back into the distance, where the Horde troops had settled into a series of caves in the cliff side.

"...well," Rusl said, "see the cliff? See all the different cave entrances? Well, what you can't see is that there is a cave on the top of it. Leads straight down into the complex. Far as I know though, its unguarded."

He turned back to them.

"Say no more," Lyn chuckled. "I'll take them out from the inside." She looked once at Filly, thinking- she couldn't take her with her, of course. But what to do...? She glanced once more back towards Rusl, sizing him up and considering something. Finally, making her decision, she took a step forward, holding out the reins of her horse to Rusl.

"I trust you'll take care of her until we get back?" she asked with a small smirk. "She's a hard worker and will serve you well."

Rusl got to his feet, and patted the horse's side, looking into Filly's eyes.

"...of course." he said. "Won't find a scratch on her."

He looked to the young man. "And what about you, kid? Shall I get you a weapon?"

"It's Allard." he replied, tightening the straps on his gauntlet. "I like punching things...so no, I don't need a weapon."

After handing Filly's reins to Rusl, she glanced once to Allard, then back to Rusl. "Call me Lyn," she said simply. "As for weapons, I have plenty of my own."

She then looked over to Allard, raising an eyebrow. "Ready when you are."

Allard rolled his shoulder, letting out a series of cracks. "Ready."

"We'll give them something to look at while you slip in...should divert some of the attention to the front." Rusl said.

"Thanks," Lyn said, giving a nod Rusl's way before turning once to Allard, then to their destination. She checked her weapons, making sure they were all ready to go, before starting to walk off towards the cliffs. As she walked, she took out the heavy, silver-laden bow from off her back, stringing an arrow on it and getting it ready.

"...I hope your going to be doing the quiter stuff with that." Allard said as they walked. The heavily tatoo man looked to her. "I prefer rough and tumble, really."

"That's the plan," Lyn said with a frown. "You take them up close, and I'll cover you from afar."

As they walked out of the path, Allard began walking around the cliff, rather than up it.

"Come this way. If they see us half way up, we're buggered." he said.

Lyn nodded, following Allard's move. She kept low to the ground, hid behind the rocks, and most importantly, kept her bow at the ready, prepared to fire at a second's notice.

Soon, they had arrived at the top of the cliff. Looking down, they would see hundreds of Bokoblin's on patrol, looking out at the refugee camp. The cave mouth into the complex was nearby.

Lyn kept low to the ground, but was still able to expertly hold and maneuver her bow. She could see, in the mouth of a cave, there was a single guard. She raised her bow, and fired- and it dropped like a rock, dead. Quickly, Lyn raced towards it, dragging it out of sight and searching its body for anything useful. She only hoped Allard was quick enough to follow after her before they could be seen.

Allard quickly ran into the cave with her, nodding at her as he went. As they traveled down, they eventually came across two Moblin guards. They were walking up and down the path, side by side. They carried spears. They eventually stopped to fill there laterns with oil. Allard pointed at one, and then pointed at himself.

Finding nothing of any use on the first moblin, Lyn moved along down the caves with Allard, silent and quick. As they paused to see the next two, Lyn nodded to Allard, and once more drew her bow, aiming it at the other moblin, the one he hadn't pointed at. She waited- for the moment that Allard came out of his hiding and moved to attack one, she would let the arrow fly and embed it in the skull of the other.

Allard crept out of cover, until he was behind one of the Moblins. He tapped one of the shoulder, and as it turned around, confused, he smashed it across the face with a Haymaker, sending a spray of blood and teeth flying out of its mouth. It heard turned at an akward angle as he hit it, and its neck broke with a crack.

Not a second after Allard had punched the first one, Lyn's arrow had pierced the skull of the second, flying straight through it and slamming against the other side of the wall, landing bloodied and broken. Calmly, Lyn lowered her bow and walked up to the two dead moblins, bending down and taking up one of their lanterns, hooking it to her belt. It could possibly come in handy later.

Allard nodded towards Lyn, and continued down the path. Soon, however, the came into the open; they were on the cliff face, where the battle had started far below them. The little natural walkway gave them a good look out of the fighting.

Allard watched the battle. "Let's hope Rusl's keeping the soldiers in line..."

Lyn scowled as she looked down at the fighting with distaste. She scoffed, "We've gotten more accomplished so far here than they have down there. This type of warfare is pointless." She glanced off to the side, trying to find an entrance to another set of caves which would take them further into the Horde's territory.

"Well, maybe the reason there are less guards up here is because they're all down there." Allard pointed out. Suddenly, he saw three bokoblins on a walkway below them.

"Look..." he whispered.

Lyn noticed the boblins as Allard pointed them out and she nodded, crouching down low to stay hidden and spying on them. She deftly and quietly fit another arrow to her bow, waiting to see just what these three guards were going to do.

The Bokoblin's were just looking out at the battlefield, quietly. Allard held up his fingers to her...

3...2...1...

Allard jumped down, and as he fell, landed on one of there backs, breaking its spine. He punched the other one across the face before he even knew he was there, and threw him off the edge.
