Feast of Veritas (Continued)

Deserax had gotten to the other side of the room, standing over his dead brother.

"Its going to end now!" He took the Eye of Truth and held it to his eyes. He looked at his brother, curious to see if there was a slight chance of him being alive. Nothing. He was dead. Going past that before he could tear up, he looked at the three Veritas. He looked at the one that came from the legs, and surprisingly saw nothing there! Just an outline.

"The leg one is a fake! Then..." Deserax looked to the wound that the leg one had made, and saw that it wasn't really there!

"Ignore the one that came from the legs!"

Konbei's foot struck Veritas' vulnerable face, and as the aristocrat got back on his feet completely healed of the blade wounds, he held his bleeding nose; apparently it had been broken by the kick.

"Was that completely necessary?" Veritas exclaimed as he straightened his nose out with a quick snap.

The legs-Veritas quickly turned to face Deserax and charged at him, his jagged teeth and sharp nails ready to tear the lad to pieces.

Deserax just stood there. He knew it was just an illusion, so he wanted to prove it to everyone else.

"Come on then! My grandmother can run faster!"

Just when it looked like the legs-Veritas was about to obliterate Deserax, the monster ran right through him. The aristocrat spun around in shock, but slowly began to grin as it faded into oblivion.

Konbei didn't say anything, he just followed up with an angry punch aimed at Veritas' jaw.

The head-Veritas dodged the punch and placed his hand a few inches away from Konbei's chest. He then summoned a black fireball and prepared to fire the swordsman back into the column behind him.

Macabre sank into a predatory stance, and then lunged at Nuala with a roar as he popped out both wrist blades. He brought one at Nuala's chest.

With one of them gone, Deserax turned his attention to the chest Veritas. He looked at him through the eye, and found that he actually was there, but he had some kind of unnatural fire in the place of his heart.

"I see now!" Deserax kicked up his sword from the ground and caught it in the air, and then quickly stabbed right for the Chest-Veritas' heart flame thing.

Nuala leant back and swung her blade horizontally at Macabre as his wrist balde skimmed her chest; leaving a fine surface wound.

Konbei summoned his hellfire and blasted it back at Veritas.

The Chest-Veritas saw Deserax coming and easily avoided the blade. He went to blast a black fireball in the lad's face as he came by.

The two fires neutralized eachother, but the head-Veritas was not going to be stopped. He glided backwards to a safe distance and blasted a stream of black fire at Konbei.

Deserax snapped his fingers and quickly vanished to right behind the Chest-Veritas. What was fueling him? Perhaps it was the death of Dalikos, or something else all together. Whatever it was, it boosted his power.

Once behind the chest-Veritas, he stabbed at his heart once again.

The chest-Veritas quickly turned around and grabbed the blade, effectively stopping it from piercing his heart.

"Even with my eyes you have no chance, boy." Veritas smirked. "Leveling the playing field gives you no advantage."

From behind Deserax a wallmaster dove down to crush him.

Deserax broke his sword away and then moved before he could get crushed. His eyes then got large as he finally got it. He put the lens to his eye, and looked at the Head Veritas for a moment. He saw only the eyes in the lens.

"Even with his eyes..." Deserax stood up then.

"Konbei! Stab his eyes out!"

Konbei used his hellfire to shield himself from Veritas attack. He would have to wait for him to come closer to stab his eyes out.

Dane and the monstrous Verron clashed again and again, steel against claws. Neither side had remained unscathed, and it was clear that both sides were beginning to reach their limits.

"What's wrong, moneybags?" the monster seethed, fluxuating from the Sheikah's voice to that of a demon. "Can't finish the job?"

"Of course I can." Dane panted, holding his bleeding sword arm. "And once I'm done with you, Veritas is next."

The creature made a horrific noise one might consider a laugh. "Bold words coming from a man who had to steal an invitation to get here. Face it moneybags: you're nothing but a dressed-up piece of commoner trash!"

The monster charged at Dane with regenerated claws at the ready. The gentry let out a deep breath and swung hs blade down in a jumping strike. The two met and delivered their blows: Verron seriously cutting Dane's side, and Dane severing the monster's arm completely off its hideous body.

It shreiked as it stumbled to the ground in agony, bleeding profusely on the ballroom floor. It shuddered and whimpered as it lay on the ground.

Clutching the new wound bleeding through his shirt, Dane limped over to the dying monster and kicked it on its back so it could look at him.

Dane glared at his beaten opponent. "Whether I'm a prince or a pauper, I'll always be better than you." He dove his blade deep into the monster's heart and watched as it melted away with an unnatural shreik.

((Sorry, but I needed to get that part out of the way. ^_^; Now onto Veritas!))

The head-Veritas remained where he was, but summoned a handstalk from behind Konbei, trying to distract him and end the firey stalemate.

Konbei heard something rise out of the ground behind him and quickly risked a glance over his shoulder to see what it was. He saw the handstalk and cursed under his breath; he could either continue his duel against Veritas and be attacked by the new enemy behind him, or go for the handstalk and be killed by Veritas' attack...

Neither option was ideal.

Konbei glanced over his shoulder at the handstalk again and pushed a sudden burst of force into his attack against Veritas before diving to the side, hoping to escape the fatal situation...

The handstalk was destroyed once Veritas' black fire engulfed it, but it had outlived its usefulness. In the time it took Konbei to roll out of the way, the aristocrat had rushed in and was ready to stab Konbei's heart.

Konbei faltered and fell onto his back as he hurried to block Veritas' strike only inches from its target. He shoved back on the blade against his and thrust his foot up at Veritas.

Veritas took the kick and distanced himself once again. As long as he kept out of the blade's reach, he was invulnerable.

Konbei took the opportunity to regain his footing and went straight to slash at Veritas' face.

((Didn't he throw his katana to Deserax?))

Veritas blocked with artistic skill, stepping back with each step Konbei advanced.

(Oh right... yes he did -___- I'll edit...)

Konbei didn't back down, he continued towards Veritas - one strike after the next; determined to kill.

Veritas had little difficulty protecting himself against the strikes, it was going back on the offensive that was the hard part. He finally found an opportunity and went to quickly stab Konbei's left leg.

Konbei saw it coming and quickly went to drive his katana through Veritas' eyes like Deserax had told him to.

Veritas went to block the strike, but it was too late. He had put too much force into his own strike to retreat fast enough; the consequence being that Konbei's blade went straight into the aristocrat's right eye.

The screech of pain that followed shook the massive chandelier above the ballroom. The lights flickered with no wind to disturb them, the shadows on the walls seemed to panic and run on their own, even the massive columns supporting the viewing floor above seemed to crack and crumble a bit.

Veritas flew far away from his opponent, clutching his ruined eye as blood mixed with his tears.
