The Inner Gambit of Darkness - Continued (Part 2)

Dane's jaw hit Konbei's fist full force, throwing him backwards and hitting his head against the stone road. He lay on the road unconscious.

"Brenz?" Gwene said both surprised and confused "What are you doing here?"

"...going through a transitional period, I guess." Brenz said after a pause. "And blowing off some steam...you got my messages, right?"

"Yeah, yeah I did." Gwene said going over to him "Wow, it is good to see you again."

"...same here." Brenz said, smiling. "So, err...how's Konbei?"

"Konbei?" Gwene said surprised "Oh, he is fine. Just his usual self."

"I had a feeling..." Brenz said, laughing a bit.

"So, what have you been doing with yourself?" Gwene asked.

"...what have I been doing?" Brenz said. "...well, it's taken me up to now to find out, but what I've been doing is jack shit."

"Oh." Gwene said "Then why didn't you come back, I mean, people have been worried."

Brenz looked away. "What? Come back, and be in public attention again? Involved in royalty?" he said. "...you know why I left in the first place, Gwene."

"Yes, but if you had stayed you wouldn't have been too involved." Gwene said "The ministers agreed that it would be safer to keep royalty in the blood, so they decided to pass the crown to Tibarn. You didn't have to leave like you did."

Deserax just let the two talk. Sure. It was cool to find out a person you yelled at was royalty, but the guy didn't seem like he wanted to be in the spot light, so he just let them talk.

"No, Gwene. Once your in public attention, your there." Brenz snapped. "Don't behave like your the one who watched the only person who truly respected you die infont of you, and then get asked to do so much."

"Yes. You're right." Gwene said calmly "But that doesn't mean you have the right to yell at me like you just did." she said back a little cooly, she turned her back on him and walked back to Nuala.

Konbei looked at lying unconcious on the road. "Fuck..." he muttered to himself, was he dead?

He thought he heard the clanking of metal armor coming down the road; guards. Without thinking, Konbei grabbed Dane and split into his elemental form, and took him to the Arbiter's Grounds. If Dane was dead, this would be a good place to dump his body...

Konbei dropped Dane on the stone floor and checked his pluse. He was still alive. He figured he could still leave him here; Dane meant nothing to him. He turned and started to walk away.

Brenz stared at her as she walked away. "...fuck it."

"Well. Wasn't that a nice reunion. 2 minutes after finding each other after who knows how long, you guys are already fighting." Deserax sat down on a nearby couch.

"Everything alright?" Nuala asked Gwene with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes. Everything is fine." Gwene said in a monotone "Let's go find Konbei."

"Do you know where he may be?" Steven asked. "I have a bad feeling about the way he's been acting lately."

The pain in Dane's skull screeched louder and louder as he regained consciousness. Something wet was trickling down the side of his head, making his hair cling to his scalp.

He groaned as he tried to get up, but was too disorientated to get above a sitting position.

"Wha? What happened?" he looked around with unadjusted eyes.

"I don't know," Nuala said to Steven, getting increasingly worried. "I haven't seen him all morning..."

Konbei had only gotten a few steps away from Dane when he heard him speak. He turned back and went to kick him hard in the face.to knock him out again.

Dane was too confused to see the kick coming, and it hit him square in the head, knocking him out once again.
