Dance of Dragons

Approximately 800 years after Twilight Princess... Hyrule's presidential election is being held. The candidates? Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule is the candidate of the Nationalist Party, while Zant Twilian is the selected candidate of the Militant Party.

Daphnes, descendant of the Hyrulian Royal Family, has the support of the traditionalist Hylians, but Zant is fueled by the power and money of Ganondorf Dragmire, business tycoon and national celebrity.

Not to mention, Daphnes' wild daughter Zelda doesn't help his public reputation. Though her party-girl escapades are popular with the day's youth, the majority of his followers find her a bad role model for their own children.

Despite Zelda's rep, she is undisputedly the most intelligent young woman of her time. Still, nobody cares to heed her drunken blatherings about the Order of Shade or her warnings about Ganondorf and Zant.

The pivitol moment comes with Daphnes' assasination - Zant takes office without competition, and leads Hyrule into an era of military control and governmental corruption. Zelda's father's company is left in her name, and responsibility is for the first time thrust upon her frail shoulders. Zelda ends up losing the battle for her company to Ganondorf, who becomes the primary owner in her place.

The young millionare and her guard, Impa, suddenly vanish without a trace. Her friend Midna, neice of the dictator Zant, knows something about it, but she's not talking. Those who oppose the rule of Zant disappear overnight, and young recruits in the army are said to be brainwashed. There is a national alert to be on the lookout for a boy with the Holy Mark on the back of his hand, which frightens the homeless boy Link (the one with such a mark) and his friend Malon, sending them on the run from their own country.

Link finds himself on a journey to uncover the truth - and save the land from an ancient and forgotten evil.

The RP will begin a month before Daphnes' death.

Canon Characters (Major):

Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule (RPed by Theodore Hastings)- The technical King of Hyrule. Though the power of the Royal Family has been greatly reduced since the olden days, he is still a prominent and influential figure in modern Hyrule. He is descended from the long line of royalty that ruled in days past, and is the most popular candidate in the presidential election.

Zelda Hyrule (RPed by Luv) - Daphnes' young daughter. Though she has a reputation as a rebellious party-girl, her intelligence and wit is unmatched. She has a bad reputation in the public eye, is weary of Ganondorf and Zant, and often spews nonsense about the Order when intoxicated. She also bears the Holy Mark on the back of her hand.

Link (RPed by Hillsy) - A young mute homeless kid who lives on the streets of Lanaryu City. He devotes his time to community service and often eats at the soup kitchen. It is unknown where he recieved his training in the blade, but he is a master. He bears the Holy Mark, too.

Malon (RPed by LuvIsAThing) - A kind girl from the country; she often helps out at the local animal shelter and is devout in community service. She has a crush on Link.

Ganondorf (RPed by Luv) - A wealthy Gerudo business tycoon. Ganondorf's disdain of the Royal family is well-known, though it is thought to be because of their lax policies and traditional values. Unbeknownst to the general public, he also runs a very profitable drug business, and is a main developer of recreational drugs. Extremists believe he is part of the Order.

Midna (Open) - Zant's neice. She is the princess of the Twilight Realm, and an aquaintence of Zelda's. The two get along well due to their shared love of clubs, parties and drugs.

Zant (Open) - Ganondorf's favored presidential candidate. He is a Twili, but as the race has become more accepted throughout Hyrule, and the Twilight Realm is bonded with Hyrule, he is surprisingly popular amongst the Hyrulian people. His promise of stricter policies and military support make him hard to beat. Many Extremeists believe him to be part of the Order.

Seven Sages - Seven with pure hearts. The tradition of them judging the future ruler of the land has long been in effect, and it has become expected. However, as it is not law, the future ruler is not required to pass their tests.

Sages:

Impa (Open)- The head of Daphnes' personal family guard, the Sheikah. She is Zelda's best friend and is like a mother to her.

Ruto (Open) - The princess of the Zora race. She's a very skilled swimmer and is on the lookout for a handsome husband.

Saria (Open) - The delegate of the Kokiri race. Saria is a very wise girl, and the peacemaker of the Sages. She's also a conservationist and participates in many nature protection programs.

Daurnia (RPed by Hillsy)- Chief of the Goron tribe. Daurnia is the national head of construction, and an expert on archeology and rare gems.

Nabooru (Open)- The representative of the Gerudo Tribe. Nabooru is trusted as the head of Foreign Affairs.

Rauru (RPed by Theodore Hastings) - A candidate for Vice President. Raru is a wealthy partron of Zelda's college, and funds the education of many homeless children.

"...Live at the Lanaryu Dome, the two candidates for the presidential election, Nationalist Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule and Militarist Zant Twilian, will be participating in a debate within the hour; the general public is invited by them for their personal input as well... Tickets are only 50 Rupees apiece... The event is funded by Ganondorf Dragmire… This broadcast is brought to you by DNN..."

An amber liquid suddenly smeared the face of the reporter, followed by a crystal chalice, which narrowly missed the flatscreen TV. A delicate young woman sneered at the television, her flushed face full of contempt as the smug face of Zant Twilian flashed onscreen.

"When will people wake up and realize that these people honestly don't care about this country..." she muttered, helping herself to the bottle at her side. "Ganon practically owns Hyrule anyways; it's not going to be much of a change if Zant comes along and fucks it up even more... Dad doesn't need to even stick his neck out for our ungrateful nation..."

She sighed, running a hand through her dirty blonde hair. Her teal eyes flashed. "Ughhh... I have to stop having at the bloody brandy..." she whimpered, bringing her pajama-clad knees to her slight chest and closing her eyes as she wrapped the blanket tighter about her slight shoulders.

“Miss Hyrule? …Miss Hyrule!”

The girl opened one eye, and it slowly moved from the TV to the door in the darkened room. “What?!” she snapped. People knew not to disturb her after she’d had a night on the town. It was an unspoken rule between all the personnel that kept up Hyrule Mansion: Avoid Zelda at all costs when she is in an ill way; she will eat you for breakfast or fire you. Usually the latter.

The tentative voice of the maid was a pain to Zelda’s sensitive, long ears as it echoed through the bedroom. “Don’t you remember, Miss? You are supposed to accompany your father to Lanaryu Dome today.”

Zelda groaned as the maid poked her head in.

“I hate to be a bother, Miss, but your father insisted.”

The girl covered her head with the security blanket as the maid swept back the curtains, letting bright sunshine pour into the lavender-themed room. “There you are. Wake up, now. There’s a girl. I’ll have breakfast ready by the time you are ready, ma’am.”

The maid exited, and Zelda tramped over to her closet on wobbly legs, loathing the chastisement that Daphnes was sure to be giving her this morning.

“And you’ve been sure to invite all the paparazzi? …Very good. His daughter’s sure to accompany him today, and Daphnes needs a little bad press what with all the support he’s been getting in Eldin Province…”

Ganondorf Dragmire clicked his cell phone shut, chuckling to himself as his limo fast approached the crowds of paparazzi at the gates of Lanaryu Dome. He’d been carefully planning this for weeks – Zant had already been told all he needed to say; and now that Zelda Hyrule’s presence at the event was confirmed, all the pieces had fallen into place. He couldn’t wait to have a good laugh as Daphnes’ daughter made a fool of him. He knew it would be so – she had been partying the night before in one of his very own nightclubs.

Then again, perhaps she has the Wisdom to keep her pretty mouth shut…

“And would you like an extra pint of Lon-Lon milk with your meal, sir? My father and I have been giving out samples, y’see.”

A red-headed girl happily handed the carton of milk to a complete stranger, wiping her hands on the apron she wore as she dished out several plates to the homeless of Lanaryu City. She was happy and content in her work – she liked the fuzzy feeling it gave her inside to know she was doing good for others, even if the work could get quite hectic.

I wonder where Link is? He’s usually here by this time; never misses a meal, she thought as she gave an elderly woman an extra scoop of potatoes.

Deserax was listening to his iPod as he punched at a punching bag in his house. He couldn't do much else. If he watched Tv, there would be like 2 minutes of actual show, and 28 minutes of election crap. He couldn't go outside, because of the debate that was being held in the town. He wasn't even able to go on Youtube without getting a 30:00 minute ad about it!

"Freaking campaigns..."

Konbei sat near the top of Snowpeak Mountain, watching the day awake. The freezing air fluttered through his hair and nipped at his bare arms and face. Anyone else would have been on the verge of frostbite if they had been sitting up there for hours wearing nothing but snow pants and a t-shirt, but for Konbei, he wouldn't have had it any other way. It was peaceful up there away from the constant bickering and in-your-face ads about the election. Konbei honestly couldn't care less about the whole to-do; he did as he pleased anyway.

His eyes moved to the cigarette hanging between his fingers, he took a long drag on it and exhaled. He watched the smoke curl slowly upwards into the air and heard a series of mechanical clicks echo up the mountainside; down below, the gondolas were starting up. Konbei sighed and stubbed his cigarette into the snow, he stood up and let a snowboard-shaped panel of ice form beneath his feet before he took off down the mountain, enjoying the smoothness of the fresh snow before it was ruined by hundreds of thrill-seekers and holidaying families.

(FYI, Konbei is 18. I'll probably make that his official age at some point. And yes, to switch things up a little - he smokes in this)

Just outside the centre of Hyrule City, in a quiet throughfare, a cloaked man casually paced back and forth outside a shop front as he pretended to fiddle with his phone. An 'Open' sign hung in the panelled windows beneath a green awning with white writing that simply read 'Potions.'

The man glanced around cautiously before discretely approaching the shop door. The slight jingling of a bell gave away his presence as he pushed the door open. He slowly paced around the empty shop as his inquisitive eyes wandered over the unique stock. Everything from Red Potion to Fairy Tears was stacked in the wooden shevles along with almost every ingredient imaginable. Even a few Poe souls were contained in glass bowls hanging from the ceiling behind the counter. The man stopped when a bottle of sparkling, gold liquid caught his eye and bent forward for a closer look.

"Can I help you?" Celeste said cheerily from behind him.

Startled by her unexpected presence, he bumped into a bowl of Golden Bugs, causing it swivel dangerously on the spot. Luckily, he managed to steady the bowl before it had time to fall and smash on the ground.

"Uh, no, just browsing," the man said and quickly left the shop.

When the door clicked shut, the friendly smile dropped from Celeste's face and she resumed her place behind the counter. She always seemed to accidently frighten the customers... Even though Nuala said it was usually the suspicious ones who were easily startled and that their business wasn't welcome anyway.

Celeste sighed and turned up the volume of the radio when a reporter started talking about the election. She was torn between the two candidates, seeing pros and cons in both their leaderships, but for the most part, the ins and outs of politics went straight over her head.

Gwene stumbled into her appartment, completely exhausted, another 12 hour working day of keeping citizens in line during the campaign period, fortunately, she had the next three days off. She began to feel sleepy and slowly drifted off, but not before her phone beeped with a notification, she groan and picked herself up and pulled her iPhone towards her, she had three text messages and a missed call, she looked over her text's and saw they were all from Zelda, from the night before, she could barely make out what was said, but she figured she wanted Gwene to go out with her that night.

She sighed, that Zelda was a crazy party animal, but due to Gwene's loyalty, remained one of her best friends around, tomorrow afternoon, she made a mental note to go pay her a visit, that being the best time. She came to the missed call, expecting it to be from Zelda as well, but her stomach and heart did a backflip when she saw who it really was from, it was from Konbei. She instantly fell wide awake, she decided to give him a call back to see what he wanted, she dialed in his number and began the call.

When Konbei neared the bottom of the mountain, his make-shift snowboard melted away and he walked the last few meters off the snow field. He put his hands in pockets and almost as soon as he did, he felt his phone vibrate. His first thought was of Gwene, but she had been busy lately and was probably still tied up to return his calls.

Konbei cleared his throat and answered it without bothering to check the caller I.D. "Hello?" He said almost sounding indifferent.

"Hey there big boy. What's up?" Gwene replied to Konbei.

Konbei's mood instantly brightened when he heard Gwene's voice. "They finally gave you a break, huh?" He made it back to his car and climbed into the driver's seat, turned the ignition and started driving back to the city. "I hope that campaign is worth it..."

"I'll be honest, I'll be glad when it's over, even though I'm getting time and a half all the time." Gwene said "But I have the next three days off, so you want to come round and we'll go off and get a bite? I'm starved."

She found it strange to be saying that, even when before she was on the verge of falling asleep.

"Yeah, I'm keen for food myself. I'll be there in a few," Konbei said, already pressing his foot down harder on the accelerator.

"Brilliant, I'll just quickly get changed, see you soon." Gwene said, she hung up the phone, looking down over her work clothes, she decided to have a quick shower.

It didn't take long for Konbei to get to Gwene's apartment building. He pulled into the car park and took the stairs up to her floor. He knocked on her door and waited for her to answer. It felt like weeks had gone by since the last time he got to spend time with Gwene; another reason to hate the election.

Gwene was still in the shower, but heard the knock of the door "Who is it?" she called out.

"Me," Konbei said.

"Ah!" Gwene found herself in joy "Come on in, I'll be ready in a few minutes."

Konbei tried the handle and found the door was unlocked, he entered and made himself at home in Gwene's apartment while he waited for her.

A couple of minutes passed, and Gwene emerged from the bathroom wrapped in a towel, she made her way to her dresser "Hey there." she stopped and gave Konbei a quick peck on the cheek on her way passed. "Glad you could come."

"I've always got time to hang out with you, when I'm not busy doing nothing," Konbei joked. "I'm just glad you're getting some time off. You look tired."

Gwene smiled at Konbei's joke "Yeah, me too. I can't wait for it all to be over." she pulled out some clothes.

"Me too," Konbei said. "Political hype pisses me off. It's so overrated."

"Mm, me too." Gwene agreed. "I just hope that Zant doesn't come into power, he seems like the type that would get lost with the power." she pulled some delicates to herself. "Shut you eyes." she looked back at him with a wink and a smile.

A smirk came across Konbei's face. He leant back on his hands and shut his eyes.

Gwene looked at him and smirked, she pulled on her delicates and her tight jeans. She was about to pull on her shirt when a thought came across her mind. She tiptoed over to Konbei and sat on his lap "I have a better idea, how about we order a pizza from the corner shop and stay in and watch a movie."

Konbei's hands found her waist before he opened his eyes. "Sounds good," he said and gave her a kiss.

"Good." she kissed him on the lips, she then climbed off of him and pulled on her shirt, she turned around to grab some shoes, smirking when her back was turned, she loved teasing him like that.
