The Inner Gambit of Darkness - Continued (Part 3)

Steven fired another light arrow at the second Twinmold's tail.

Deserax felt like he was almost through the chain.

"Come on... before he sees..." He said quietly.

The arrow hit the tail and the twinmold roared, but it didn't kill it.

Deserax didn't realise it but a spear made from darkness sped to hit Deserax, not to kill him, but disable him for a little bit.

But you let it happen. the voice spoke as the scenes faded away. You chose to take Daimus' offer three years ago, and even after all this time--watching those who you love die by your hand--you still cling to his empty promise for power.

Steven charged up his mana and fired three seeking light arrows. Two went for the first Twinmold, while one went for the second.

Deserax felt the arrow hit him, but he broke through the chain. He plummeted to the ground, but landed in the sand, so he wasn't hurt to badly. Deserax looked to see where the arrow hit him and it was his right leg.

"Ugh..."

Something touched Konbei, sadness maybe, perhaps some guilt...

He was torn. Daimus' promise wasn't empty; he felt like he could conquer everything while under his influence, but he only realised he was hurting everyone around when it was too late...

The voice took a softer tone, more like that of a consoling mother.

You can gain the power you seek, Konbei Lorbane. But it has to be on your own; true strength has no shortcuts.

Deserax pulled out the spear, with a twinge of pain.

"GUAHHHHHHHH!" Deserax shouted. He only felt a little bit.

"Why... do they... always hurt... coming out..."

To master this power you need to control it. a voice echoed in Konbei's mind Use it at your own will and you will have the power to keep those you love from dying.

"Gwene?" Ryan asked, "........Just take the potion, I'm kicking some ass." He said firmly before leaving with Samehada in hand towards Daimus, he disappeared in a burst to speed up towards Daimus intent on freeing Gwene. He appeared and swung at the chain while making a grab from Gwene.

(night)

A violent tremor was felt throughout the empty world.

He lies, Konbei Lorbane. Do not listen to him. Follow your own path, not his.

Konbei didn't say anything back to the voice and was confused by the second. He wondered who's it was and whether it was genuine, or just trying to fool him again...

The voice spoke again, it sounded like it was Farore once more Prove your courage by taking control of it

Gwene fell from the chain's hold on her, she fell into a heap in the sand nearby.

Daimus cares not for your desires. Gwene, Nuala, Ryan, Celeste, all are nothing but obstacles to getting you in his grasp. He shall spare no expense to rid of their guidance forever.

The world shifted once again to the current area, with an image of Gwene being hanged by Daimus as the central focus.

If you truly wish to keep your friends safe, then reject Daimus and join the fight against the Demon God.

(Is the second voice lying?)

Konbei wished he could do both, he was scared that if he tried to control the power more, he would risk hurting his family even more than he already had. But if he abandoned the power completely, he feared he would grow as strong.

(Yes, but no one knows the difference. No one.)

Gwene lay not too far from Nuala, completely weak and almost out of breath, she looked up and saw Nuala was fine, but her clothes were bloodstained "What.... happened?" she asked to Nuala, trying to cath her breath.

Deserax stood up. Well, more like used the near by pillar to stand up.

"H-hey... any more potion would... be great about now!" He shouted to Nuala and Ryan.

((No one but the original voice, of course. It knows the other voice is Daimus lying because it didn't invite him in, and that it's contradicting the original message. It's a fight of conscience; like a mini angel and devil whispering into Konbei's ears.))

There was another viloent tremor, this time there was a sense of urgency in the first voice.

He is trying to break the barrier of this world. I cannot hold him back for much longer. Just remember, Konbei Lorbane; you are your own master, do not hand him the reins.

The world around Konbei returned to normal, and this time not simply an illusion. Behind him Dane fell to the floor, exhausted from the effort.

Nuala was propped up against a wall, recovering after taking the potion. Her wound had stopped bleeding and the skin was starting to slowly repair itself but she felt drained of energy and weak. She glanced over at Gwene, glad to see she was mostly okay and alive. "Deserax tried to attack Konbei," she said.

Nuala heard Deserax, but there wasn't much potion left. "Gwene, are you hurt?"

Deserax leaned against the pillar.

Gwene looked over at Konbei.

One of the twinmold made to attack and envelop Gwene, but from nowhere someone cleanly carved through the head of the twinmold, it was Galenus.

Galenus fell back to the ground and landed on his feet, weilding the Sage Sword granted to him by Russell, he then sank to one knee gasping for breath, the amount of energy he put into the blade to carve through the thick armour of the Twinmolds neck.

The body fell beneath the surface while the head fell and destroyed a part of the structure.

Brenz hookshotted himself up on to one of the pillars, and drew his new weapon off his back, aiming at the remaining Twinmold.

Atticus meant against in of the pillars, trying to regain energy.
